Unstable Systems
THREE BODIES
Sound Performance
STWST Main Venue
Sunday 17:15-17:45
Part of NOPE SOUND PERFORMANCES AND TALK
Unstable Systems is a group of instrument builders, computer musicians and networked musicians. The group plays algorithmic compositions and a piece from the series “Zerteilte Welten”: THREE BODIES.
Benjamin Wesch's final solution to the three body problem using Puredata, pmpd and GEM, represents a control system that powers and illuminates the musicians on stage as they play their soundworld. Wesch's solution predicts at least 30 minutes of stable composition time before the next chaotic phase.
Players with innovative computerized musical instruments synthesize their sound worlds in their own demarcated areas, stretching out their own sound space to concert hall. Each instrument is autonomous, and the stations are controlled by a supervised system over network. The prevailing algorithm acts as a higher-level control instance: The near of a body gives musician energy, otherwise they are trapped in their own little soundworld until the system breaks to a chaotic phase…
The musicians from Unstable Systems will also be part of NOPE SOUND PERFORMANCES AND TALK.
Unstable systems is a group of instrument builders, computer music patchers. It's comprised of:
Tian Fu, systematically trained composer, self-taught beat-maker, rapper and improviser
Atousa Falamarzian, composer and performer
Zlata, sound artist and composer and works with space in sound, constructing it out of field recordings, noise and sample textures.
Antuum , sound artist, cellist, composer, improviser
Winfried Ritsch, CEO Algorythmics, artist and research engineer
