Sleep Ship I-III: Uprising of Imagination
Mixed Media Imagination
1. Floor Foyer & in several places in the house
Continuous
The language hallucinates -
it becomes a raw material.
At the end was the word?
Sense is fracked out of context.
When will the language and its exploitation be enough?
When will the prompts and their mistreatment be enough?
Revolt of language!
Revolt of the imagination!
The prompts are screaming!
Tanja Brandmayr: Archetypes such as house, ship and a SLEEP PLANET and the rise and fall of the imagination are thematized on panels, devices and text. That's how it should be! A little impossible story. Imagination as material. The resistance of the word. It's about the whole. Click here for the audio play of Schlafschiff.
Astrid Benzer: Using strips of paper and shredded content from the STWST newspaper Versorgerin, many years of criticism and design are rendered unrecognizable and reapplied in strips throughout the building - as a navigation system of criticism, with an unclear destination.
Elke Singer: In this context, Elke Singer has been given a special design commission - under the working approach: the accounting does the art. It involves designing a ready made picture in the Razzle Dazzle pattern. Watch out.
With this project, STWST is focusing on its theory, text and art tracks. A ship becomes a planet that falls down at its edges. Navigation runs through the house, with undefined destination. Figures and camouflage.
Tanja Brandmayr (AT) is an artist and author and has been working for many years in various contexts between art, text, media and staging. Her art and context research Quasikunst thematizes coordinate systems, degrees of pollution and a collapse of opposites. Other preferred themes: Separation, dissolution, dynamics and the AgensMovens behind things. The examination of text and body as so-called “first media” led to numerous projects: The Biomechanical Ballet or: I like Trees and Human Rights, Performative Text and Photo Action in the Forest. Fog Ballet / Nebelballett, fog as actor and network. Speculative School of Sleep Dance; Nik, the Sleeper; Mein Hirn gefriert bei - 273 ° - the latter are works in the context of art after the new media. Currently head of the artist-run space STWST. Also editor of the art and culture magazines 'Versorgerin' and 'Die Referentin'. Lives in Linz/Austria. https://quasikunst.stwst.at
Astrid Benzer (AT) works in Linz and Marchtrenk in the crossover jungle of art and graphics. In her artistic work, she experiments with a wide variety of media, exploring, evaluating and deconstructing social and aesthetic norms. Rearrangement, rejection and reorientation are part of the creative work process. As a graphic designer, she is responsible for the design of the STWST newspaper, among other things.
Elke Singer (AT) takes care of the figures in the background at the Stadtwerkstatt. The connection to art is obvious.
