The Contestation Café is a place for you to bring your broken interactions with Algorithmic and Automated Decision Systems. If you have experienced unfair treatment by an algorithm, an AI or any other non-human entity, this is the place for you. Modelled on the Repair Café, this is a space where stories are gathered and strategies are formed to find ways to push back against the encroachment and emerging harms of algorithmic decision systems. We are not here to fix your problems, but to collectively find new ways to reclaim your dignity, ownership and agency over opaque systems and digital defuturing.
Join me at Stadtwerkstatt Linz for a casual and constructive conversations about algorithmic systems, entanglement and the automation of our lives.
Bring your own stories of algorithmic brokenness, or search for new ones as a group.
Come as a Citizen or as a Fixer - find ways to contest the system together or bring your experience to help others.

Robert Collins is an assembler of critical things. Sometimes artist, mostly fabricator. He builds things as a way to understand the social complexities of new technologies and to find ways to subvert and circumvent the harms and noise that that often emerge. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Sweden in Designing for Contestable Systems - looking for ways to challenge algorithmic hegemony through Critical, Agonistic and Tactical Design. http://www.robbycollins.com/
